Bingham Arena and Enterprise Zone Opens Doors to the Public

As part of the Procure Partnerships Framework, Willmott Dixon has handed over Bingham Arena and Enterprise Centre, a new build program worth £15.8m on behalf of Rushcliffe Borough Council.

This project was secured via the Procure Partnerships East Midlands Framework with Willmott Dixon awarded under a single stage call off procedure. This project was also monitored via Compliance Chain.

The works comprise of a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool with seating for 330 spectators, learning pool, café, two exercise studios, a spin studio, a fitness gym and changing room facilities, as well as a 207-space car park with 12 accessible spaces.

A new 260sq.m community hall, with a stage area, changing facilities, control room, kitchen, and storage, acts as a hub for the community.

Also situated on the site is Bingham Enterprise Business, housing 12 self-contained offices, breakout area, meeting rooms, and a shared workspace, supporting the growth of new businesses in the area.

Rushcliffe Borough Councils focus was to build an environmentally conscious facility for the community. The new build is 78% more efficient in terms of carbon emissions than other leisure centres in the borough and 82% more than similar office developments.

Social Value

Willmott Dixon worked with social enterprises to create additional local jobs, including Streetwise, to maintain grounds and landscaping, and Radiant Cleaners to maintain cleanliness in shared working areas.

Working with the Trent Bridge Community Trust and Toot Hill School, Contractors also supported the career prospects of young people by giving them educational tours of the construction site.

As part of Open Doors Week, a group from Nottingham University Samworth Academy visited the site. The tour was organized by ThinkForward UK, a charity that provides coaching and skills development to young people to help them overcome challenges and prepare them for the workplace.

The facility is now open to the public.
