Common Assessment Standard
- Reduce time, cost and administrative burdens
- Accelerate supplier onboarding
- Streamline your pre-qualification process
The Trusted Assessment Standard
Compliance Chain is 1 of 7 Recognised Assessment Bodies able to assess companies against the Common Assessment Standard. The other bodies able to conduct assessments are Constructionline, Achilles, CQMS, SCCS, SMAS and CHAS.
The Common Assessment Standard, developed by Build UK, is a certification designed to streamline and standardise the pre-qualification process. By consolidating multiple questions sets that assess suppliers into a single, industry-recognised standard, the Common Assessment Standard enhances efficiency and reduces costs for both suppliers and clients.
PPN 03/24 and the Common Assessment Standard
When the government released Procurement Policy Notice (PPN) 03/24 in March 2024, it provided updated guidance on using the Common Assessment Standard. This notice clarifies the government’s recommendations for standardising pre-qualification processes and encourages the adoption of the Common Assessment Standard to streamline compliance across the construction sector. Data sharing allows subcontractors to complete a single assessment and share their data with multiple contractors and clients. This approach saves time and reduces administrative costs by eliminating the need for subcontractors to join multiple assessment bodies and pay separate fees. With data sharing, the qualification process can be streamlined, enabling subcontractors to gain pre-approval and onboarded to projects more quickly.
Common Assessment Standard data sharing enables subcontractors to reach a larger pool of clients and projects without having to repeat assessments. It demonstrates your compliance, giving you access to new opportunities with reputable clients who require the Common Assessment Standard compliance.
Through data sharing, contractors can make informed decisions about which subcontractors meet compliance benchmarks, lowering the risk of breaches to health and safety on projects.
Moreover, access to shared Common Assessment Standard data helps contractors quickly identify subcontractors who have established a proven track record in conducting best practice, along with supporting better risk management and project outcomes.
With data-sharing, subcontractors can update their compliance as new regulations emerge (such as adjustments from the Building Safety Act), ensuring they remain compliant without needing to reapply for multiple assessments.
With evolving regulations, like those introduced by the Building Safety Act, staying compliant can be challenging. Compliance Chain simplifies the process by helping you maintain your Common Assessment Standard certification, ensuring your credentials are always up-to-date with the latest industry requirements through automatic notifications, reminders and award winning support.
The importance of data sharing
Data sharing within the framework of the Common Assessment Standard is a crucial component of Build UK’s mission to streamline pre-qualification processes in the construction industry.
